Fourth Sunday of Easter Worship

21st April 2024 at 11 am

What is Worship like at
Inclusive Community Church?

Our worship service is a mixture offering something for most everyone. We sing some traditional hymns as well as contemporary worship songs. We have a bit of liturgy but with a more informal feel. We have serious times but also believe that laughter is good for the soul. We believe worship should be a celebration, not a dry, boring event. Visitors comment how refreshing our services are and how different from their experience of church in the past.

What type of people worship at
Inclusive Community Church?

Our congregation can be described in one word: diverse. All of God’s beautiful human creation is welcome at Inclusive Community Church, including young and old; women and men; gay, bi and straight; trans, cis and non-binary; singles and partners. We welcome all nationalities and ethnicities, abled and differently-abled, rich and poor. We truly believe that God’s love is for all and we find blessing in the diversity of God's creation.

What time does worship start
and how long is the service?

We worship every Sunday at 11 am in our church building on Hannington Road in Pokesdown in Bournemouth, BH7 6JT. Our services are usually around 70 to 75 minutes long. After worship most everyone moves to our church hall for fellowship over a cup of tea or coffee.  You are very welcome to join us.

Is the building accessible?

Our building is old with the main part having been built in 1896. However it is all at ground level with no stairs making it relatively easy for anyone with a physical disability to get around. Some of our doorways are a bit narrow but wheel chair users have been able to maneuver throughout.  This includes our two toilets, one of which has a couple of handrails installed for assistance.  Our Sanctuary is equipped with a hearing induction loop.  We project the words to our songs and readings on a large screen monitor for everyone.  We also have a special large monitor arranged with seating near and directly in front of it for those who have special visual needs.

What should I wear?

There’s no formal dress code at Inclusive Community Church and the attire on Sundays is just as varied as our worship styles. You will see a bit of everything: people in their 'Sunday best', folks in 'business casual', and those in jeans and t-shirts. You’ll even find during the warmer months people wearing shorts. It’s completely up to you to dress to your level of comfort. Most importantly, though, we look forward to seeing you, not what you’re wearing!
